Fire, police and administrative offices were consolidated in 2003. They now occupy the Cambridge City Center in the heart of the city.
Responsive City Government
The city is governed by an elected mayor and four-member city council. Its annual general fund budget is just over $5 million. In April 2010, The city has maintained an AA- bond rating with Standard & Poors. The City also prides itself in maintaining a through long range financial plan to promote efficient use of taxpayer dollars. Its Comprehensive Land Use Plan was adopted in 2001. Commercial, industrial and residential plans are reviewed and approved by the Planning & Building Department.

As the Isanti County seat, Cambridge is home to a modern government center, county fairgrounds, and a regional library. Residents enjoy one-stop access to health, legal and social services.

Cambridge's 13-member police force is recognized for its commitment to traffic safety and community policing. It works cooperatively with the 47-member Isanti County Sheriff's Department. The community's ISO rating is 6.
