A recent commercial development study by the McComb
Group found that Cambridge “has the opportunity to be the largest
shopping area between Duluth and the Twin Cities.”
This fast-growing region is becoming a significant
retail center, thanks to a variety of assets that draw people daily
to the community.
- Expansive school district and regional library
- Vibrant, well-established manufacturing base
- Educational opportunities at Anoka-Ramsey Community
College
- Allina Medical Center and Hospital which employs
925 people
- Thriving commercial areas that have attracted
recent investment from Target,
Wal-Mart, Cub Foods, Menard’s
and Walgreen’s.
The McComb study found that shoppers from 16
neighboring communities consider Cambridge “close to home.” This
sentiment is echoed by Wal-Mart Manager Grant Wilsey, who calls
Cambridge “a retail destination for a market that covers 1,000
square miles.”
